Traditional Aikido

Aikido is the Japanese art developed by Morihei Ueshiba after a lifetime of study. It is commonly translated as the "way of harmonious spirit" or the "way of unifying energy" and some of its main characteristics involve using movement and timing to take an opponents energy and use it against them.

These classes are in the Aikikai style as taught at the Aikikai headquarters in Japan. Training is quite traditional and encompasses striking, locking and throwing techniques as well traditional weapons such as sword and staff.

Some of the many benefits of training include exercise, focus, concentration and overall awareness.
